KATRINA BARCLAY | CHOREOGRAPHER
I have been dancing since the age of three, training at two different dance studios. I started off at The Dance Experience in Ajax for eight years. I trained with BATD where I completed ballet, tap and acro examinations. I started my competitive career at the age of seven with a tap solo. I then moved to Elite Danceworx in Markham for five years where I intensely furthered my training instyles such as jazz, tap, ballet, acro, hip hop, lyrical and contemporary. Here is where I began the Vaganova pre-professional level of ballet, including yearly examinations. After moving to Elite Danceworx, I received many wonderful opportunities to display my talent and technique while attending dance competitions all over the GTA and in areas in USA such as New York City, Buffalo and Michigan. I was awarded with VIP Jump, where I was then invited to New York for their final convention of the season in the summer. I then was able to compete my solo for a chance to win Dancer of the Year. Throughout my dance career, I have been privileged enough to be able to work with amazing choreographers such as, Blake McGrath, Nick Lazzarini, Dee Caspary, Stacey Tookey and many more. I am a second year student at Durham College studying Advertising and Marketing Communications. After graduating the three-year program I wish to go back and take the two-year Photography course. Taking the Photography program will help me perfect my skills in taking pictures which could possibly lead to dance photography or more.
